US to call for Syrian President resignation

A senior U.S. official said that the Obama administration plans to call the resignation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as its government continues the bloody crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators.

The US government also started a sanction on Syria’s biggest bank which prohibits US businesses from dealing with them. The sanction also targets Syriatel, a mobile phone company that is owned by Rami Makhlouf who is close to the Syrian president.
