Typhoid Outbreak in Alegria, Cebu



Alegria, CebuThe Department of Health (DOH) declared today that there is a typhoid fever outbreak in Alegria town in Cebu with over 200 cases reported.

DOH Region 7 director Dr. Susana Madarieta announced that they have declared a typhoid fever outbreak as the number of cases increased based on initial laboratory tests though they still have to conduct more tests to confirm.

Many of the affected patients are from the villages of Sta. Felomina and Poblacion, Alegria Mayor Emelita Guisadio confirmed and along with the municipal council declared a state of calamity for the said places.

Medical teams from DOH Region 7 already started to bring medical supplies, including treatment for fever and antibiotic to prevent the disease from spreading more to other residents and nearby areas.
