SC Removes Dumlao in the Suspect List of Dacer-Corbito Case

Former police officer Glenn Dumlao is no longer in the list of the accused in the twin murder of publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito. This is based on the Supreme Court decision according to Corbito’s lawyers Morel Callueng and Cesar Brillantes. His lawyers said that with SC’s decision, Dumlao will now be summoned by the government as an “ordinary witness” for the prosecution. This is different from a state witness as this is usually one of the suspects or the accused who has agreed to testify for the prosecution for a lesser charge.

Though he is no longer a suspect, Dumlao would still continue to be under the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation and would only stop to be under the said protection if he decides that he no longer needs it.

Dumlao used to be a member of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force and in 2000 under Philippine National Police Director General Panfilo Lacson when former President Joseph Estrada and when the twin murder happened.

Aside from Dumlao, another member of the PAOCTF, former superintendent Cezar Mancao II agreed to testify for the prosecution on their knowledge in the Dacer-Corbito murder case and the alleged involvement of Lacson and Estrada.

Let’s just hope that Dumlao would testify and reveal what really happened and who was behind the case so justice will be served to the two victims and their respective families.
