The allied law makers of President Benigno Aquino together with some journalist, leased a civilian plane when they visited the Pagasa (hope) island. The Pagasa (hope) island is the largest island in spratlys. Thus Making China very unhappy about it. Visiting the disputed island was an infringement of its territorial sovereignty, state news agency Xinhua reported, citing a Foreign Ministry spokesman.
Xinhua quoted, ”China has indisputable sovereignty over the South China Sea islands and their surrounding waters,”
Ma added, ”The move of the Philippine side seriously infringed China’s territorial sovereignty,”
Southeast Asian foreign ministers and 17 regional partners, including China and the United States, held a meeting at an annual security forum in Bali, Indonesia in response to Ma’s comment about the Law makers visits.
Preliminary set of guidelines in the South China Sea was agreed upon by China and Southeast Asian countries.
