4 Abu Sayyaf Members Surrender

Four alleged members of Abu Sayyaf reportedly surrendered yesterday a few hours before the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

According to the informant in a news published by Inquirer, suspected Abu Sayyaf members, composed of 3 men and a woman surrendered to Deputy National Security Adviser Luis “Chavit” Singson and was brought by his private plane to Manila wherein they were met by DILG Secretary Ronnie Puno.

“I don’t have any idea about that. In fact, no one has ever coordinated with me about any Abu Sayyaf members wanting to surrender to the authorities,” Sulu Gov. Abdusakur Tan said telling that he had no information about the supposed surrender.

Abu Sayyaf is considered a terrorist group in the Philippines and known for their kidnapping and bombing acts in exchange for ransom.
